- <p> All those recordings and no collectors' edition CD. Secretly
- taped chats putatively involving certain British royals seem
- to be as abundant as unlistenable Billy Ray Cyrus songs. Last
- week England's most infamous tabloid, the Sun, published a new
- tape transcript, this time of face-to-face feuding between PRINCE
- CHARLES and princess DI that allegedly took place at the couple's
- country home one month before their December separation. No
- parental advisory required--this one is hardly steamy. Di
- to Charles: "For once, could you put yourself out and think
- of me?" Retort: "Don't you dare to sit there and tell me to
- think of you." More startling than the contents of the tape
- was the Sun's contention (and that of royal chronicler James
- Whitaker) that the recording was made by fabled British intelligence
- unit MI5. Displaying a gift for imaginative metaphor, Home Secretary
- Kenneth Clarke denied the charge: "It has about as much foundation
- as that the Archbishop of Canterbury is a mugger."
